In the study two typical expository texts and two typical narrative texts were used, all with the same topic so that the effect of the topic would be minimized. 46 Japanese learners of English participated in the study. They shared the background knowledge of the topic after having read relevant materials, which means the effects of the participants' background knowledge would also be minimized. They were required to read four texts one by one and recall all they remembered each time. Results show there tends to be a difference between a L2 learner's reading ability according to text type, and that the same reading ability is shown when he or she reads the same type of reading material. This tendency was more significant among less advanced learners. Other factors may affect reading ability when advanced learners read expository texts.}, pages = {69--74}, title = {テキストタイプがL2読解力に及ぼす影響 : 背景知識を共有する読者による検証}, volume = {40}, year = {2006} }
