This phase change began in the middle of 1990s when the technique suitable for mass-production of fiber Bragg gratings was invented. This trend will become stronger in the future. From this view point, Department of Electronics and Control Engineering of Nagano National College of Technology started the education by means of experiments on distributed sensing based on optical fiber Bragg gratings.
