In recent years we are asked to reconsider such a attitude in view of amenity and ecological necessity. As rivers in the upper and middle stream part of the river basin are usually rapid due to their steep slopes, a lot of sand and gravel are carried during high water period. So we must restore the artificial depths after flood. The field researches on the effect of artificial depths have been carried out in the Asakawa river.
