One consequence of this is that few training apparatus have been developed for the luge, when compared with other winter sports such as skiing and skating. In the sports of luge, it is considered that one's overall time is greatly influenced by performance at the start of the run. As a result, a large proportion of the off-season is taken up with start-training. So firstly, we have developed an apparatus whereby the repulsion force produced by exertion of force on the start-grips during the start stage can be measured. Then we have developed an apparatus whereby the repel force can be measured and displayed on a large LED matrix display.
