First, a survey of the reading classes was carried out in which research papers in English are used as a discussion material by professors of specialized courses. Second, some difficulties are discussed in teaching English for Science and Technology by a teacher of English who has virtually no knowledge of its background. Lastly, characteristics of an ideal material was examined for teaching EST to the students of Science and Technology major.
