They are used because their motion is simple and is obtained from simple experiment devices. But the significance of physics includes many facts. That treatments on studying physics are not well-balanced in theory, for it is difficult to measure experimentaly the pendulums' motion. From the point of view, it is necessary for us to measure precisely the motion of the single pendulum for the explanation of the energy conservation.
