As far as we know, there is the stronger demand to convert a lavatory into a water closet. For the purpose of the improvement in the quality of wastwater, we made an experiment by the simplified plant of granular water filters. This is the report about our effective filters. We used wastewater in our school sewage disposal plant as water samples, river sand and activated charcoal as filter medium. Accordig to our experiment, to remove more than 80% of the average 245ppm COD, our filter must be composed of grain size 0.3 to 1.2mm, depth 710mm of the filter layer. It was also possible to remove more than 80% of the average 124ppm SS by grain size 0.3 to 1.2mm, depth 450mm. In the case of pH and DO, required criterion was satisfied before filtering.
