| 内容記述 | As the greatest feudal lord, Tokugawa Shogunate commanded many demesne throughout Japan in the form of villages. When there arose disputes among these villages, they were brought to the local court, Daikansho, but in some cases the disputes were then brought to the next and the highest court, Edomachi Bugyosho. This article is a case study of a village dispute in southern Shinshu and its judgment by Edomachi Bugyosho. During the Bunsei period, two neighboring villages (Komaba and Mukozeki) had a dispute about their border of commons, beginning in 1819 and ending in 1827. Both of their commons, located side by side on both sides of a mountain, were used for mowing hay. But as the population of the two villages increased, the commons became too small and the both tried to expand them. There arose a border dispute between them. They brought the case to Iijima Daikansho which failed to settle it, and then to Edomachi Bugyosho where the last judgment was made. New boder was decided and both villages accepted it. The process mentioned above has been made clear in this article through careful examination of a Village Document in Shinshu (Chikubosan Deiri Oboe). | |||||
